Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

By using Tenova, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

2. What Tenova Is (and Isn't)

Tenova helps landlords track rent and manage tenant information.

Tenova is NOT:

  • A legal service (we don't provide legal advice)
  • An accounting service (we don't prepare taxes)
  • A collection service (we don't collect rent)
  • A replacement for proper legal documentation

You are responsible for complying with all applicable laws, including Alberta's Residential Tenancies Act.

3. Your Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate information
  • Keep your password confidential
  • Obtain tenant consent before providing their information to Tenova
  • Use Tenova only for lawful purposes
  • Comply with landlord-tenant laws

You will NOT:

  • Harass or discriminate against tenants
  • Use Tenova for illegal purposes
  • Share your account with others
  • Attempt to hack or break into the system

4. Free Trial

  • Duration: 30 days, full feature access
  • No credit card required during trial
  • After trial: subscribe to continue, or your account becomes read-only

5. Paid Subscriptions

  • Starter Plan: $39 CAD/month (1–3 units)
  • Pro Plan: $69 CAD/month (4–15 units)
  • Founding member pricing ($29/$49 CAD/month) is locked in for the lifetime of the subscription
  • Billing: Monthly on the same date
  • Payment: Credit card via Stripe (we never store your card details)
  • Cancellation: Anytime. Effective at end of current billing cycle.

6. 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee

Not satisfied within 30 days of your first payment?

  • Email: hello@tenova.app — Subject: "Refund Request"
  • Result: Full refund in 5–7 business days
  • Limit: One refund per customer lifetime

7. Limitation of Liability

We provide Tenova "as is" without guarantees.

We are NOT responsible for:

  • Missing or late reminders
  • Downtime or service interruptions
  • Data loss (we back up daily, but cannot guarantee zero loss)
  • Errors from bugs or user input mistakes
  • Lost rent or tenant disputes

Maximum liability: The amount you paid us in the past 12 months, or $100 CAD — whichever is greater.

8. Your Data Ownership

  • You own all tenant, property, and payment data you enter
  • You can delete your account and all data at any time
  • Tenova software is owned by Tenova

9. Intellectual Property

You may not copy, modify, or reverse-engineer Tenova. You have a non-exclusive license to use Tenova for your personal landlord needs only.

10. Legal Disclaimers

  • Not legal advice: Consult a lawyer for landlord-tenant law questions
  • Not accounting: Consult a CPA for tax and financial advice
  • Your responsibility: You must comply with all laws governing rental properties in your jurisdiction

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms anytime. Material changes are emailed 30 days before taking effect. Continued use means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Alberta, Canada.
